Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a way of relating to experience that is quantified as having lasting positive effects on well-being, health, quality of life, performance and happiness, as demonstrated by a plethora of academic research across fields such as psychology, neuroscience and physical medicine.

Our evidence based 8-week course is based on the renowned Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme, taught in leading institutions worldwide, and originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at UMASS Medical College; it includes components of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) developed by Mark Williams, John Teasdale and Zindel Segal at Oxford University, which specifically addresses negative thought patterns that can perpetuate stress, depression and anxiety; and Mindful Self Compassion (MSC) developed by Kristen Neff and Chistopher Gremer, a research based mindfulness intervention that shows cultivating self-compassion helps to foster emotional resilience.

The course is a systematic training in mindfulness meditation and mindful movement, it is based on a cumulation of thousands of hours of clinical practice, research and personal experience. The primary intention is to provide a structured pathway to develop more freedom from suffering, stress and to enhance wellbeing of the participants.

Mindful Meditation is the practice of training attention to come back to the present moment, non-judgmentally. It’s simple and anyone can do it.

8 Week Mindfulness Course
(Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction)

You can learn mindfulness meditation in a number of ways, however we recommend initially participating an 8-week course, because it is the most widely-researched and evidence-supported format.

The course runs over 8 consecutive weeks, classes run for approximately 2-2.5 hours each week plus a retreat day ( regularly offered on a Saturday). You will learn all core mindfulness practices including: mindful movement, walking meditation, yoga, kindness meditation, breath meditation and body scan. 

All courses receive small group tuition, retreat day, audio lessons for home practice, a printed workbook, printed journal and loads of support as you develop a personal mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness for Creatives

Harmonising and directing consciousness is a primary factor in achieving flow states, breaking through creative blocks, radical ideation, problem solving and honing technical prowess through applied focus.

This course specifically teaches meditation in the context of creative practices. You will learn focused attention practices – to develop ability to sustain focus, and mindfulness practices – to promote a calm attitude to challenge and develop essential neural networks for ideation and creative thinking. 

The course is suitable for anyone interested in learning meditation and is especially relevant to self employed, artist, designers, programmers and others who rely on sharp mental fitness, decision making and ideas for a living.

All courses receive small group tuition, plus a half-day retreat (regularly offered Sat 2-6pm), audio lessons for home practice, a printed workbook, journal and loads of support as you develop a personal mindfulness practice.
